FairMatch Support, Value chain innovation
FMS wants to build long lasting trade relations for poverty reduction. At the time of the project there were 20.000 cashew producers / partners in various countries connected to FMS. FMS wanted to grow; by the end of 2012 to 45.000 cashew producers in 4 different countries for specialty markets and link these producers to high end export markets. FMS worked currently in 3 categories: 1. Fair Trade, 2. Organic and 3. Mainstream
This project consists of four separate building blocks with 4 timeframes. Block I: strategic Framework for Supply Chain Management (SCM) Block II: format for tools and identification of tools to support cooperation in the horizontal and vertical value chain of FMS. Block III: The development of a quality development manual. Block IV: First tools for Supply Chain Management. The project took place in The Netherlands in cooperation with the team in Benin and Burkina Faso Africa. 100% Zomer cooperated with Milah Wouters of Fairvent consultancy in this assignment.

Why: FMS acts as a mediator, broker en business developer of supply chains from the South to (high end) markets in the North.
What: Due to the FMS ambitions the organization needed a solid foundation for growth in the Netherlands and in the value chains they operate in Africa.
Results
- We performed baseline study for the FMS organization and the partners in the supply chain on all levels.
- Based on this study a supply chain management framework was created en developed into a custom made framework.
- The current business plan was reframed and rewritten within the business canvas model which was discussed with management and team
- In co-creation with stakeholders several key activities were chosen and defined.
- Based on these deliverables existing tools and desired must have tools been mapped. We focused on the strategic, tactical and operational level.
- Finally a quality management tool manual was developed. Clear guidelines for tool development were set up and a framework for maintenance.
- Also the modules and building blocks for supply chain management and analysis tool were developed.
- We also had several meetings with team and business partners to create support for this new company direction.
