South Sudan Integrated Sustainable Nation Building
100% Zomer was approached by a sustainable investor and forestry organization to advise on a project in South Sudan set up by an Israeli Foundation called Saureyah. The board existed of a group of pioneers from hedge funds and impact investors and a prince from Benin. The chairperson inherited a fertile and strategically situated piece of land from his family in South Sudan. They asked 100% Zomer for a 2nd opinion on their business plan, strategic planning, communication and management.

Why: It was their vision that integrated nation building is the largest gap in the world market today. South Sudan was regarded as a ‘promised land’ and a hidden treasure in Africa.
What: Purpose was to work on the implementation of an integrated nation-building project in the South and on the borders with Uganda. 100% Zomer was asked to comment and advise on the business plan first draft and met with the consortium during a charity diner for hedge funds.
Results:
- 100% Zomer advised a different strategy than was developed by the board. One more focused on trust building with stakeholders and entrepreneurship. The original plan was mostly focused on security solutions, distrust and was subsidy driven.
- Unfortunately all activities were put on hold since the security situation in South Sudan has changed since December 16 2013. We hope for peace again to come to continue the work with the local stakeholders.
